Well, this looked like a good 2D animation software package, but it's 399 Euros. Maybe I'll play around with the Demo, but I'm thinking I'll buy a copy of PAP at this point. I haven't played with the demo for ToonBoom yet, but I can get ToonBoom Express for $144, a bargain compaired to CreaToon!

ASTROBOY
Astroboy, or Tetsuwan Atomu, what more can I say about the icon? The new Atom anime show looks like the METROPOLIS movie in design, but this show is much more optimistic. A bright future that shines in the sun, the Atom is both a love letter to Tezuka and a love affair with our childhood hero. I will be picking up the DVDs when they are released here in the states, or failing that I'll break down and buy the DVD direct from CDJapan....

Yeah, every Friday I get the Fry's weekend circular from the newspaper and scout out all the deals. I'm literally rebuilding the computer piece by piece. The goal is to make a machine that'll encode and burn DVDs someday. I started out making VCDs, now I'm encoding SVCDs, next I'm planning on making DVD's with menus and other easter eggs....

I picked up the very new SANTO film "INFRATERRESTRE" a few weeks ago, but I haven't watched enough to do a review of it. I can tell you that "INFRATERRESTRE" has lots of cheap CGI effects and El Santo has a flying convertable. Oh, and there's lots of wrestling and El Santo has and iMac. There's a switch commercial waiting to happen....

I've been grooving to GHOUL A-GO-GO on my K. GORDON MURRAY COLLECTION DVD, so I've been trying to find out how many GA-G-G episodes will be on how many KGMC DVDs. The GA-G-G site says, "Ghoul A Go-Go meets K. Gordon Murray ! Our first nine shows are going to be included as a special feature on 12 DVDs being released from Something Weird Video between June and October 2003. The DVDs are all double features of the Mexican horror movies dubbed into English and distributed in the United States in the 1960s by K. Gordon Murray (Kagey to his friends). These features were later ubiquitous on late night TV. The first two DVDs to be released are: The Braniac/The Witch's Mirror; and Doctor of Doom/The Wrestling Women vs the Aztec Mummy! Other titles in the collection include: Sampson vs the Vampire Women, The Vampire, The Living Head, The Curse of Nostradamus, The Curse of the Aztec Mummy, the Curse of the Doll People, and other films with and without "Curse" in the title!"

STELLVIA OF THE UNIVERSE

I watched the first 2 episodes of STELLVIA on SVCD with Bruce and Ed last night while the COOKING WITH LOVE Stew cooked down. It was a pleasant surprise. It starts out with Earth being hit by the leading wave of a star that went supernova 20 light years away. My first thought is that CLAMP had a hand in this and the serial numbers were filed off. Nope, the end of the world is just a jumping off point. We follow our hero, Shipon, as she boards a Gravity Lifter in Nazca, Peru going to Stellvia, a space station in high earth orbit. She's enrolled in a sort of Finishing School, in Space, and the whole show has a sort of Heinlein Juvenile feel to it. As Ed put it, there's more hard science fiction in this show then anything they show on the SciFi channel....

Picked up the SOMETHING WEIRD VIDEO DVD release "THE K. GORDON MURRAY COLLECTION" which I hope means there will be more volumes of Weird Mexican Wrestling movies and Mexican Children Matinee Bills with all that a good K. Gordon Murray production delievers.
But I degress. This SWV DVD is a double feature of DOCTOR OF DOOM and WRESTLING WOMEN VS. THE AZTEC MUMMY, classics of the genre. But the highlight of this DVD was an episode of GHOUL A-GO-GO! A, "Monster Musical Kiddie TV Show," and a blast! Worth the price of admission!
