Comiket idea

A work in progress...

I figure why not? FLUKE has been a big success in Athens, GA...why not something similar in DFW?

So, let's start with a list of steps...

1-Rent a hall/set a date.
Rent a VFW or Ameican Legion Hall or Elk's Lodge or Moose Lodge for a saturday morning/afternoon. I'm thinking April 17th or April 24th?

2-sell tables to artists/publishers.
Based on what it costs to rent the hall for a day figure out what it'll cost per table. I'd prefer to run this thing non-profit. I don't know what I'll have to do to keep it focused on the small press types. Should I let comicbook stores have tables?

3-Hype.
Flyers, stickers, a website, promotion on the cheap, geurilla style. See if I can link up with local mini-comics and small press circles. Get some heat from the local college scene and from any hip comics shops in the area. (Not that I know any...)

4-Do it.
Make it happen with a minimum of drama.

Namegame?
Small Press Comiket Texas sounds too generic. Ideapool: Flux, Fluxus, Fluxor, Fluxxor, Comiketex, Texxor, Texxus, Texxored, Comiketexxored....
